Colin Daley Quinn Helps Bring Art to the Streets in Kogarah

Article 24 June 2021

Belgrave Street in Kogarah was transformed into an interactive music and art space from Friday 4 June to Sunday 6 June with the street festival, Un[contained] 2021.  Organised by the Georges River Council and proudly supported by Principal Sponsor Colin Daley Quinn (CDQ), the festival showcased the work of local and international artists whilst entertaining the local Kogarah community.

Bringing together large-scale installations with small discoverable artworks, performances and musicians, Un[contained] 2021 featured pieces from 23 different artists and variety of culinary delicacies from Gelato Messina, Knafeh Brothers, Archie Rose Distilling Co, and the team from Pinot and Picasso.

CDQ Principal, Geraldine Daley AM, was delighted to have been involved.  “The festival was a huge success with over 25,000 people visiting and experiencing the event over the three-day period.  Not only was it an opportunity for our local St George/Sutherland community to enjoy the festivities, it also attracted visitors from Parramatta, the inner West and beyond, with over 96% of people who responded to a survey believing that it had a positive impact on their sense of wellbeing as well as increasing their appreciation of art and culture.”

As part of CDQ’s sponsorship, local indigenous artist Merindah Funnell was commissioned to create three unique pieces of art over the course of the event.  These artworks were given as prizes in a raffle organised by CDQ to raise funds for the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) – an organisation that CDQ has been supporting for many years.

“It was a great opportunity for us to engage with our local community while supporting a very worthy cause,” said Ms Daley.  “It was a delight to see Kogarah buzzing and alive with the sights and sounds of Un[contained].  The team here at CDQ thoroughly enjoyed the event and the fact that we were able to support SSMRF, local artists and performers, as well as our community, was fantastic.”
